BEML, a Defence public sector company, has inked a deal with The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, to collaborate in areas of bogie design, propulsion system controls and alternative car body material.
This collaboration will help the company in achieving self-sufficiency and reduce the dependency on imports. The aim of the agreement is to be at the forefront of the emerging areas of railway rolling stock, including medium speed/high speed rail car and metro projects, with indigenously developed technologies.
BEML, the brand name over a period of five decades, known for its huge Mining & Construction Equipment like Dozers, Excavators, Draglines, Rope Shovels, Pipe Layers etc., has not only maintaining major share in the domestic market, but also has sizeable presence in overseas markets.
