07 Jul 2015 Evaluate

Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL), a joint venture (JV) of Tata Power and the Government of Delhi, has installed a RO water purifier plant at Kirti Nagar. The water purifier has a capacity to purify 500 litres of water per hour and it will provide access to clean and safe drinking water to residents of nearby jhuggi jhopri (JJ) clusters free of cost. The site for the installation of water purifier was identified in association with Delhi Jal Board after seeking necessary inputs from the local area Pradhan. TPDDL also runs a ‘women literacy centre’ in Kirti Nagar industrial area.

The day-to-day operations of the RO plant will be managed by the members of the self help group (SHG) that was formed by TPDDL in the community in order to address the issue of unemployment and infuse the spirit of entrepreneurship in women. The water from the RO plant can be withdrawn by using a unique electronic ‘any-time water (ATW) card’ issued to the beneficiary by TPDDL.
