Tata Motors to sell 5000 units of ‘Sumo Gold’ over next two month

Tata Motors, country’s largest carmaker is likely to sell 5,000 units of its latest ‘Sumo Gold’ each month over the next two months. It aims to be a leading player in the entry level utility vehicle segment.

Sumo Gold is cheaper by Rs 40,000 than the existing models and is equipped with a new Tata-owned CR4 engine delivering better mileage of 14.3 kmpl and pick up at 85 bhp. At present, sumo sells about 3,000 units per month.

Country’s largest car maker, Tata Motors has reported fall of 57.65% in net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 to Rs 173.67, against Rs 410.06 crore for the October-December quarter last fiscal. Total income, however, increased by 18.24% during the quarter under year review at Rs 13,337 crore against Rs 11,279.89 crore in the October-December quarter last fiscal.
