Reliance Communications builds its own mobile apps to offer a larger services basket: Report

In order to offer new and enhanced services to retail and enterprise customers, Reliance Communications is reportedly building its own mobile applications. The company is planning to transform its business processes by leveraging the Dhirubhai Ambani open source developer community and best practices of leading global carriers like AT&T and Verizon.

The company has already built two new utility-based apps Mobile Wallet and unified collaboration-based Smart Chat. These will be available to RCom's mobile and enterprise customers, adding that the company is working on more such apps. The mobile wallet app, which can connect all e-commerce websites, enabling customers to make purchases and pay bills, while Smart Chat will allows instant messaging, sending of text messages, emails and receiving of files. The app will come with enterprise-grade security and is developed using open-source software.
