Tata Motors will increase the prices of its commercial vehicles by up to two per cent on account of the new emission norms that will be implemented from April. The prices can go up by 1-2 per cent of the total vehicle cost. The price rise is primarily on account of new emissions norms which would require new technologies & hence higher costs.
Passenger cars and commercial vehicles will switch to Bharat Stage IV emission norms in 13 cities, while rest of the country will become Bharat Stage III compliant. There will be an increase in the prices of passenger vehicles. Another commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland too has announced a price hike of up to 15 per cent for its vehicles before the new emission norms come into effect.
