Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL), a joint venture (JV) of Tata Power and the Government of Delhi, has signed a power purchase agreement with SunEdison, the world’s largest renewable energy development company to buy 180MW of solar power. The agreement is in line with TPDDL’s continued focus on renewable energy, particularly, solar power. It will also help TPDDL meet its renewable power obligations (RPOs).
SunEdison will be setting up six plants of 30MW each totaling 180MW in Madhya Pradesh, and the power generated will be wheeled to TPDDL in Delhi for the next 20 years. The solar power plants are projected to produce 375,000MWh a year. The operation and maintenance of the solar power plant will be managed by SunEdison Services, which provides 24 / 7 asset management, monitoring and reporting services.
