Maruti Suzuki (India) sales for the month of June 2011 drops by 9%

Car market leader - Maruti Suzuki (India) sales for the month of June 2011 have declined by 8.85%.The company has sold a total of 80298 vehicles in June 2011, which is inclusive of 10278 units as compared to 88091 vehicles sold in June 2010.

The company has reported that production in the company’s Manesar plant during the month of June 2011 was impacted due to a strike by section of employees, which led to no production for 10.5 days.

Further, in addition owing to the planned maintenance shutdown, the company’s Gurgaon facilities were closed by 6 days (20th June to 25th June 2011). Meanwhile, the planned maintenance shutdown at Manesar plant which has started from June 27 will continue till July 2, 2011.

In June 2011, the company has sold 70020 units in the domestic market, down by 3.8% as compared to 72812 units in corresponding month last year. The sales in A1 segment dropped by 12.8% and added up in A2 segment by 2.3%. Also, the sales in A3 segment declined by 60.40%.

The company has posted a marginal increase of 0.50% in its net profit of Rs 659.86 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 656.55 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010. Total income of the company has increased from Rs 8568.18 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010 to Rs 10212.05 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011.
