REC gains on reporting 15% rise in Q1 net profit

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is currently trading at Rs. 272.70, up by 5.90 points or 2.21% from its previous closing of Rs. 266.80 on the BSE.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 371.05 on 04-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 234.00 on 24-Sep-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 281.85 and Rs. 265.65 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 26345.41 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 60.64% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 33.21% and 6.16% respectively.

The company has reported 15.26% rise in its net profit at Rs 1478.58 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2015 as compared to Rs 1282.79 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. The company’s total income has increased by 21.31% to Rs 5709.63 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 4706.70 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
