EIH plans 750 more rooms for Trident

21 Dec 2009 Evaluate

EIH will add nearly 750 hotel rooms to its existing inventory of over 1,800 rooms under the Trident brand in the next two-and-a-half years. These new rooms will be part of the upcoming properties in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Dehradun.

EIH will have 16 per cent ownership in the Hyderabad property where Golden Jubilee Hotels is its partner and 26 per cent in the one near the Bangalore International Airport where it is partnering with Larsen and Toubro. However, the Dehradun plan is under management contract.

The company launched its ninth hotel under the Trident brand earlier this month in the Bandra Kurla Complex, the emerging commercial hub of Mumbai, at an investment of over Rs 700 crore. It has 436 guestrooms, including 77 Trident Club Rooms and 24 suites.

There is a Trident present in the city's business district at Nariman Point. Incidentally, the BKC property is closer to the airport which could tilt the balance in its favour at least from the viewpoint of catering to clientele who have work in the area or need to rush back early next morning.
