12 Aug 2015 Evaluate

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is reportedly planning to launch the Ciaz Hybrid post the Independence Day weekend i.e. post August 15, 2015. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Hybrid could be sold exclusively through the company's premium dealership range - NEXA. The Ciaz Hybrid will be powered by the 1.3-litre DDiS Multijet diesel engine and a pack of lithium ion batteries that are boasted with SVHS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Maruti Suzuki) technology.

The SHVS technology with brake energy regeneration system converts the wheels’ kinetic energy into electricity through an integrated starter generator. This electricity with an idle start-stop system helps generating extra torque. With less engine load, the Ciaz Hybrid is expected to return a fuel economy between 28kmpl - 30kmpl. So, the Ciaz diesel offers a maximum mileage of 26.2kmpl. The hybrid model will also receive some exterior and interior updates.

The company has registered a rise of 1.8% in its total car sales (Domestic + Export) for the month of June 2015 at 114,756 units, as against 1, 12,773 units in June 2014. The company’s domestic sales rose by 1.6% in June 2015 at 1, 02,626 units, as against 1, 00,964 units in corresponding month last year.
