GMR Infrastructure has successfully commenced operation at its GMR Vemagiri Power Generation (GVPGL) plant at Vemagiri from August 12, 2015 under the “Scheme for Utilization of Stranded Gas based power plants” as launched by Government of India (GoI) in the month of March, 2015. Capacity of plant is 370 MW and operating at 95% PLF at present thereby generating 350 MW and supplying power to AP Transco.
Current Operations will continue up to September 30, 2015, thereafter GoI will call for a fresh round of bidding. The scheme envisages Government subsidies from the Power System Development Fund (PSDF) through a transparent ebid process.
