L&T drops port development project awarded by GMB

24 Aug 2015 Evaluate

Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an engineering and construction firm, has decided not to pursue a project to develop port in Kachchigarh in the state of Gujarat. This step has been taken pursuant to marine surveys carried out at Kachchigarh and detection of the presence of growing coral reefs in the vicinity.

L&T Infrastructure Development Projects (L&TIDPL), a subsidiary of L&T, had incorporated a wholly-owned subsidiary L&T Port Sutrapada to implement the project awarded by Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) in 2008 for setting up a green-field sea port at Sutrapada in Gujarat on build, own, operate, transfer (BOOT) basis.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is a technology, engineering, construction and manufacturing company. It is one of the largest and most respected companies in India's private sector.
