M&M automotive sector registers 29% growth in February sales

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, has reported 29% rise in its auto sales numbers, which stood at 43087 units during February 2012 as against 33378 units during February 2011.

The company’s domestic sales stood at 40461 units during February 2012, as against 31967 units during February 2011, an increase of 27%. The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes the UVs and Verito) has registered a growth of 33%, having sold 20573 units in February 2012, as against 15439 units during February 2011.

The 4-wheeler commercial segment which includes the passenger and load categories has registered a growth of 37% at 13522 units in February 2012. Exports for the month have also grown by an impressive 86%.

M&M posted a fall of 9.87% in its net profit after tax of Rs 662.15 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 as compared to Rs 734.68 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. However, total income increased marginally by 3.24% from Rs 8162.96 crore for Q3FY11 to Rs 8427.61 crore in the quarter under review.
