M&M’s arm SsangYong Motor sells 11,489 units in September 2015

Mahindra and Mahindra’s (M&M) South Korean subsidiary SsangYong Motor has sold a total of 11,489 units in September 2015 - 8,106 units in domestic sales and 3,383 in exports. Despite short working days due to the national holiday Chuseok, its monthly sales rose by 10.3% compared to the same month last year thanks to continuous robust sales of the gasoline and diesel-powered Tivoli.

In the domestic market, the company continued to record the highest growth rate in the industry, up 59.1% from a year earlier by actively responding to market change with the launch of Tivoli diesel and upgraded SUVs with a Euro 6 engine. On the other hand, the company’s exports still showed a drop, but cumulative decreased rate improved from 40% to 39% helped by great growth of 70% year-on-year in the European market thanks to the launch of the Tivoli.

Ssangyong’s total global sales from January to September 2015 almost recovered to the same level as the year before, registering 103,874 units, down 2.2% compared to the same period in 2014. Its sales have improved for seven months in a row since February when the company recorded the largest drop.
