Simplex Projects Ltd has been awarded Rs 2,000-crore contract by the government of Libya for the complete infrastructure development of Sebha, a city in central Libya.

 

Under the contract, Simplex will build a school, a health centre, a mosque, a community hall and a shopping mall in Sebha over a period of three years. It will also build 2,000 residential units of 2,500 sq ft each and a public building spread over 300 hectare. The company has set up a branch in Libya through which it would execute the contract.

 

Besides this, Simplex is in advanced talks for a deal in either the Middle East or Europe for building a stadium complex and residential units. The company expects to close two more international contracts before financial year 2008-09 ends.

 

The company's order book currently stands at Rs 3,000 crore, including five build-operate-transfer and turnkey projects in India. Simplex is working on projects for NBCC Ltd, Bhel, State Bank of India, DLF, Unitech and Bengal Ambuja, among others.

 

In the second quarter of FY09, the company's total income stood at Rs 72 crore, registering a growth of 32% over the same period last fiscal. Its net profit was at Rs 4.9 crore.crackcrack
