Tata Power rises as its arm commissions 800 MW sized super-critical unit

Tata Power is currently trading at Rs. 110.45, up by 1.45 points or 1.33% from its previous closing of Rs. 109.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 110.90 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 111.00 and Rs. 108.95 respectively. So far 139099 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 135.49 on 03-May-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 80.65 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 117.00 and Rs. 107.05 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 26127.53 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 31.81% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 48.66% and 16.30% respectively. 

Tata Power’s wholly owned subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power which is setting up India's first ultra mega power project (UMPP) in Mundra at Gujarat has commissioned the country's first 800 MW sized super-critical Unit 1. The said unit was earlier synchronized with the national grid on January 08, 2012 and had achieved full load on February 25, 2012.

The country's first 800 MW Unit 1 has been ready for synchronization since June 29, 2011, awaiting transmission evacuation system from Power Grid Corporation of India, which got commissioned on September 29, 2011.

The Unit 1 was commissioned earlier in a record 48 months of construction work starting on the project. Work on Unit 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the project is on track and progressing well.
