Power Grid acquires Vemagiri II Transmission from REC Transmission Projects

Power Grid Corporation of India , pursuant to its selection as the successful bidder under tariff based competitive bidding, has acquired Vemagiri II Transmission, the project Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), on 4th December, 2015 to establish Transmission System for ‘Strengthening of Transmission Beyond Vemagiri’ Project on build, own operate and maintain (BOOM) basis from REC Transmission Projects Company.

The transmission project comprising of 765 kV & 400 kV, D/C transmission lines is to traverse the States of Andra Pradesh, Telangana & Karnataka and includes establishment of one new 765/400 kV Substation as well as 400 kV bay extensions at two existing sub-stations in the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Power Grid Corporation of India is an Indian state-owned electric utilities company headquartered in Gurgaon, India. Power Grid transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on its transmission network.
