REC gains on transferring 100% equity shares of Vemagiri II Transmission to PGCIL

REC is currently trading at Rs. 215.30, up by 0.50 points or 0.23% from its previous closing of Rs. 214.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 216.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 216.40 and Rs. 212.00 respectively. So far 80,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 371.05 on 04-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 211.40 on 25-Aug-2015.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 233.25 and Rs. 212.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 21,259.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 60.64% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 33.61% and 5.75% respectively.

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has transferred 100% equity shares of Vemagiri II Transmission held by its wholly owned subsidiary ‘REC Transmission Projects Company’ and its nominees, along with all assets and liabilities to Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) and their nominees, on December 04, 2015. This step has been taken pursuant to approval received from Ministry of Power on November 16, 2015.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
