Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has bagged a Rs 1,843-crore contract, in joint venture with Alstom, from THDC India Ltd to construct Tehri Pumped Storage Plant in Tehri, Uttarakhand. This is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract wherein HCC’s share is Rs 701 crore. The project is to be completed in 54 months.
The Tehri Pump Storage Plant comprises four reversible pump turbine units of 250 MW each and after completion, an additional generation capacity of 1,000 MW will be added to the Northern Region. The operation of TMSP is based on the concept of recycling of water discharged between upper reservoir and lower reservoir, in which Tehri dam reservoir will function as the upper reservoir, while Koteshwar reservoir would work as the lower balancing reservoir.crackcrack
