Power Grid’s arm to establish aluminium conductor unit in Odisha: Report

Power Grid Corporation of India’s (PGCIL) wholly owned subsidiary Grid Conductors has reportedly proposed to establish an aluminium and aluminium alloy conductor unit in Odisha, committing an investment of Rs 127.35 crore.

The aluminium conductor unit would come up at the aluminium downstream park at Angul being developed jointly by National Aluminium Company (Nalco) and state owned Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco).

The aluminium conductor unit would have a capacity of 60,000 tonne per annum. It will make use of molten aluminium to be supplied to the downstream units coming up at the Angul aluminium park.

Power Grid Corporation of India is an Indian state-owned electric utilities company headquartered in Gurgaon, India. Power Grid transmits about 50% of the total power generated in India on its transmission network.
