Tata Motors surges on reporting 6% growth in February passenger and commercial vehicles sales

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs. 323.40, up by 8.10 points or 2.57% from its previous closing of Rs. 315.30 on the BSE. 

The scrip opened at Rs. 320.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 325.75 and Rs. 320.50 respectively. So far 343420 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 594.14 on 02-Mar-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 266.00 on 11-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 316.90 and Rs. 290.45 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 93502.09 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 33.01% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 41.04% and 25.95% respectively.

Tata Motors has reported a year-on-year growth of 22% in the M&HCV segment in February 2016. The total sales of Tata Motors passenger and commercial vehicles (including exports) were at 46,674 vehicles, higher by 6%, over 44,233 vehicles, sold in February 2015. The domestic sale of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for February 2016 were at 41,532 nos. higher by 3% over 40,322 vehicles sold in February 2015. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the fiscal is at 458,654 vehicles, higher by 2% over 449,814 vehicles, sold last year.

In commercial vehicles, while M&HCV sales continued to grow at 14,872 units, higher by 22%, over February 2015, the Light & Small Commercial Vehicle sales witnessed growth at 15,698 units, higher by 10% over February 2015. The overall commercial vehicles sales for Tata Motors in the domestic market at 30,570 units, in February 2016 is an increase of 15%, compared to 26,555 units, in February 2015. Cumulative sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are at 288,895 units, higher by 1% over last year. Cumulative LCV sales are at 150,472 units, a decline of 13% over last year, while M&HCV sales at 138,423 units, were higher by 23%, over last year.

In February 2016, Tata Motors passenger vehicles sales were at 10,962 units, a decline of 20%, compared to 13,767 units. The wholesales of passenger cars in February 2016 were lower by 21% at 9,284 units, compared to 11,805 units, in February 2015 and the UV sales declined by 14% at 1,678 units, in February 2016.  Cumulative sales of all passenger vehicles in the domestic market for the fiscal are 118,080 units, lower by 1% over last year.

Further, the company’s sales from exports were 5,142 units, in February 2016, higher by 31% compared to 3,911 vehicles in February 2015. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal are at 51,679 units, were higher by 16%, over 44,498 units, sold last year.
