Maruti Suzuki India hikes ex-showroom prices of its models by up to Rs 35,000

Maruti Suzuki India has hiked the ex-showroom prices of its models which would go up in the range of Rs 1,441 to Rs 34,494 across its models. This step has been taken by the company following the infrastructure cess on automobiles in Union Budget 2016-17. As Smart Hybrid models (Ciaz SHVS and Ertiga SHVS) are exempt from the Infrastructure Cess, there is no change in the prices of these models.

The company has registered a fall of 0.9% in its total car sales (Domestic + Export) for the month of February 2016 at 1,17,451 units, as against 1,18,551 units in 2015. The company’s domestic sales rose marginally by 0.2% in February 2016 at 1,08,115 units, as against 1,07,892 units in corresponding month last year.

Of the total, the company has sold 87,149 units of its passenger cars during last month, down by 3.9% as against 90,728 units in 2015. However, the sales of vans have surged by 10.5% to 12,482 units as against 11,301 units in February 2015. Moreover, the company’s sales of its utility vehicles soared 44.5% to 8,484 units from 5,863 units in February 2015.
