Defence public sector undertaking,BEML, has bagged Jaipur Metro order valued at Rs 318 crore. The order is tomanufacture, supply, test and commission 10 train sets of four-car each,totalling 40 cars to Jaipur Metro Project.
Currently, BEML is the supplier ofmetro cars to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRCL) and Bangalore Metro RailCorporation Ltd (BMRCL) and now it has added Jaipur Metro to its order basket. Thecompany also by virtue of its domain expertise in the manufacture of metrocars, has indigenously designed, developed and supplied intermediate metro carsto Delhi Metro to replace the existing four-car sets to six-car sets andthereby enhance the passenger-carrying capacity.
Besides, BEML is in the process ofdesigning and developing affordable metro cars to suit the upcoming metroprojects in the country, targeted at Tier-II cities. Recently, BEML had baggedthe order for supplying 150 coaches, valued at about Rs 1,672 crore fromBangalore Metro Rail Corporation.
