S H Kelkar and Company has scheduled to take a planned maintenance shutdown of its group company’s Fragrance Ingredients manufacturing facility located in Barneveld, The Netherlands from the first week of April 2016 for about 4 weeks. This facility at The Netherlands manufactures products, some of which can also be manufactured at company’s unit in Vapi, Gujarat, on a need basis.
During this time, the company shall carry out a comprehensive recalibration of plant and machinery, related apparatus and equipment and maintenance of infrastructure like underground storage tanks. The company undertakes these activities once in 15 years as part of the best-practices plant maintenance, with the last one conducted in the year 2000. This comprehensive shutdown is distinct from the annual maintenance program which is less comprehensive and hence, less time consuming. The company anticipates this overhaul to result into productivity improvements going forward.
