Tata Motors' Jaguar Land Rover inks JV agreement with China's Chery Automotive

Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has inked a joint venture (JV) agreement with Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile to produce and sell JLR- and JV-branded vehicles in China. Also, a new, jointly-owned company will be formed, with a view to also establish a research and development facility.

Tata Motors Group global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover, were at 127,318 in February 2012, higher by 24% over February 2011. The cumulative sales for the fiscal were 1,112,518, higher by 15% compared to the corresponding period in 2010-11.

Global sales of all commercial vehicles - Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range -- were 57,857 in February 2012, highest ever in a month and a growth of 24%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 536,136, a growth of 18%. Also, global sales of all passenger vehicles were at 69,461 in February 2012, higher by 25%. Cumulative sales for the fiscal are 576,382 higher by 11%.
