Canara Bank surges on raising Rs 3,000 crore through private placement

Canara Bank is currently trading at Rs. 213.95, up by 2.00 points or 0.94% from its previous closing of Rs. 211.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 212.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 214.50 and Rs. 211.75 respectively. So far 25966 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 391.20 on 05-May-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 156.20 on 29-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 217.40 and Rs. 204.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 11508.70 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 66.30% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.70% and 8.00% respectively.

Canara Bank has successfully raised Rs 3,000 crore under BASEL-III Compliant Tier-II Bonds with a coupon of 8.40% per annum.

The bond committee of the bank had decided to raise Basel III Compliant Tier -II Bonds amounting to Rs 1,000 crore with an option to retain oversubscription, at the sole discretion of the bank for an amount up to Rs 2,000 crore on Private Placement basis. The issue was opened on April 18, 2016 and closed on April 27, 2016.

Canara Bank is an Indian state-owned bank headquartered in Bangalore, in Karnataka. It was established at Mangalore in 1906, making it one of the oldest banks in the country.
