Unitech’s joint venture - Uninor has added 23.40 lakh new mobile subscribers in February. Following the said addition, the company’s total subscriber count stood at 4.11 crore users with a market share of 6.26%. Besides, Bharti Airtel has added 18.20 lakh mobile subscribers in February while Idea Cellular has added 25.80 lakh mobile subscribers in February.
Uninor is owned by the Norway based world’s 6th largest mobile services provider Telenor Group and India’s second largest diversified real estate major Unitech.
Earlier, Unitech was open to selling its 32.7% stake in its telecom joint venture with Norway's Telenor ASA and had sought $150 million from the latter. Unitech’s proposal to the Company Law Board comes after the quasi-judicial body asked the realty firm to decide by March 19 if it wanted to buy out the 67.25% stake held by Norway's Telenor or exit their joint venture, in order to end the bitter dispute between the two.
