M&M jumps on automotive sector registering 25% growth in March sales

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is currently trading at Rs. 705.90, up by 9.00 points or 1.29% from its previous closing of Rs. 696.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 708.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 709.15 and Rs. 703.00 respectively. So far 27,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 874.75 on 28-Oct-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 617.00 on 20-Jun-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 709.15 and Rs. 672.60 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 43,340.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 25.34% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 46.61% and 22.30% respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s leading SUV manufacturer, has reported a 25% rise in its auto sales numbers, which stood at 47001 units during March 2012 as against 37522 units during March 2011. This is the highest ever monthly sales number in the history of the company.

The company’s domestic sales stood at 44342 units during March 2012, as against 35488 units during March 2011, an increase of 25%. The Passenger Vehicles segment which includes the UVs and Verito has registered a growth of 33%, having sold 23020 units in March 2012, as against 17320 units during March 2011.

The company has closed FY 2011-12 with a sales figure of 483246 units as against 377063 units in FY 2010-11, an impressive growth of 28%. The company’s exports have also grown by an impressive 70% during FY 12.
