TVS Motor’s March sales declines by 4.47%

Two-wheeler maker, TVS Motor Company has reported cumulative sales for the period April-March 2011-12 which grew 7.40% with sales crossing two million during the said period. The company registered total sales of 2,198,142 units against 2,046,541 units recorded in the previous comparable period. The total sales for the month of March 2012 however, stood at 182,527 units a decline of 4.47% in comparison with 191,081 units in March 2011.

In the two wheeler segment, total two wheeler sales for the month of March 2012 stood at 180,274 units in comparison with 186,781 units recorded in March 2011. Scooters registered sales of 39,395 units in March 2012 compared to 42,655 units in the comparable month of the previous year. Motorcycles sales accounted for 65,994 units in March 2012 against 79,642 units in March 2011. Domestic two wheeler sales of the company stood at 160,736 units in March 2012 in comparison with 162,719 units reported in March 2011.

In the three wheeler segment, the company sold 2,253 units in March 2012 against 4,300 units in the same month of the previous year. Cumulative three wheeler sales for the period of April-March 2011-12 stood at 39,733 units.

The exports registered total sales of 20,690 units in March 2012 against 26,762 units in the same month of the previous year. The company's two wheeler exports stood at 19,538 units in March 2012 in comparison with 24,062 units in March 2011.
