Tata Motors’ jumps on reporting 20% increase in March sales

Tata Motors is currently trading at Rs. 276.10, up by 0.40 points or 0.15% from its previous closing of Rs. 275.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 280.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 281.00 and Rs. 275.35 respectively. So far 16,10,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 297.25 on 16-Mar-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 137.65 on 13-Sep-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 281.00 and Rs. 266.10 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 74,311.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 35.04% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 38.91% and 8.95% respectively.

Tata Motors' total sales including exports of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles in March 2012 were 100,414 vehicles, a growth of 20% over 83,363 vehicles sold in March 2011. The company's domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles for March 2012 were 95,047 units, a 23% growth over 77,431 units sold in March last year. Cumulative sales including exports for the company for the fiscal are at 906,768 units a growth of 13% over 803,339 units sold last year.

The company's sales of commercial vehicles in March 2012 in the domestic market were 58,063 units, highest ever in a month and a 17% growth compared to 49,753 vehicles sold in March last year. LCV sales were 36,091 units, a growth of 37% over March last year. M&HCV sales stood at 21,972 units, lower by 6%, over March last year.

The total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market rose 34 percent at 36,984 units in March, highest ever in a month, over 27,678 vehicles sold in the year-ago period. Sales of the company's Nano small car stood at 10,475 units compared to 8,707 units in March 2011, up 20 percent. The 'Indica' range reported sales of 11,420 units, up 65 percent from the year-ago period, while 'Indigo' family recorded sales of 8,295 units, up 15 percent over March last year. Sales of the 'Sumo', 'Safari' and 'Aria' rose by 40 percent to 6,794 units in March this year.

The company's sales from exports at 5,367 vehicles in March 2012, are lower by 10% compared to 5,932 vehicles in March last year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 63,078 units, are higher by 9%, over 58,044 units, last year.
