Reliance Power’s 1200 MW Rosa Thermal Power Project in Shahjahanpur in UP is now fully operational, with the commissioning of fourth and last unit of the project. The Rosa Power Project, which was scheduled to be completed in July, this year, with the commissioning of second unit of Phase 2, has been fully commissioned on March 31, 2012, four months ahead of the schedule. With the achievement of this remarkable feat, the company has yet again proved its ability to execute large scale projects in record time.
Final 300 MW unit of Rosa Project was synchronized and achieved full load on March 28, 2012. Immediately after the successful completion of 72 hours full load test, the date of commercial operation (CoD) of Unit-4 of Rosa Project was declared on March 31, 2012, Earlier, Unit-3 of the project was also brought online in December, 2011, three months in advance, compared to scheduled implementation in March, 2012.
Rosa Power Project, which comprises four units of 300 MW - implemented in two phases, has set many landmarks and records in thermal power plant construction, testing and commissioning and commercial operations.
With the completion of entire 1200 MW, Rosa Power Project has achieved the distinction of becoming the first new thermal power project to be set up in the state during last 20 years. Rosa Power Project is also the first independent thermal power project in North India to be brought online and represents the largest ever private sector investment in Uttar Pradesh with an investment outlay of over Rs 8,000 crore.
The project is consistently operating at above 95% plant load factor (PLF) and ranks among top three private power plants in the country and features in the list of top 10 plants among all the power plants of the country in terms of high availability and PLF.
