NTPC reports 10% jump in power generation in Q1FY17

NTPC has registered a jump of 10% in power generation for the first quarter of fiscal 2016-17. The company’s power generation during the quarter stood at 64.6 billion units as against 58.7 billion units in corresponding quarter previous year. The electricity tariff billed by the company to the beneficiaries has also been reduced significantly, as compared to the same period last year despite increase in fuel prices.

The company has recently traded 3.7 million units of surplus power on Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) till date. It has recorded highest ever gross generation of 241.98 BU during the year 2015-16.

NTPC is an Indian central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities.
