Dunlop India to reopen Shahgunj unit at Hooghly

Dunlop India is planning to reopen its Shahgunj unit at Hooghly, West Bengal and has tabled the proposal to the West Bengal government. It is planning for subsequent absorption of labourers which will be carried out in three phases.

As per the tripartite meeting between the West Bengal government, trade union representatives and the Dunlop India management, it was proposed that 57 labourers will be absorbed by the management in the first phase, followed by 162 in the second phase and 222 in the final phase. Workers who are not absorbed during re-opening will either be relocated to different units or will be given VRS.

The company’s products are received very well in the market in major categories like TRUCK/BUS, FARM and OTR range.
