Tata Power’s unit certified for Quality Environment and OHS Management Systems

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility has taken pioneering steps in driving energy conservation education, focusing on eco-friendly technologies and generating clean energy through innovative means. Recognizing these efforts of the company, the Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS) honored Tata Power’s Power House no 6 with a Certificate of approval for ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 valid for three years.

Power House no 6 is a division of Industrial Energy, a Joint Venture between Tata Power and Tata Steel. Power House no 6 is a 120 MW captive Power Plant inside Tata Steel Works and utilises the BF, LD and CO waste gases to generate power and process steam.

Power House no 6 was certified after two cycles of pre- audit and a final three days certification audit undertaken successfully for all three systems in the first week of February 2012. No Non Conformance (NC) was found during the audit conducted by an external agency Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS), Mumbai.

Tata Power is India's largest integrated private sector power utility with an installed generation capacity of 5297 MW and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. Generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), Transmission, Distribution and Trading.
