REC gains on getting nod to raise Rs 50,000 crore through NCDs

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) is currently trading at Rs. 250.05, up by 0.75 points or 0.30% from its previous closing of Rs. 249.30 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 250.30 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 253.10 and Rs. 248.40 respectively. So far 1253500 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 297.25 on 05-Oct-2015 and a 52 week low of Rs. 152.50 on 17-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 253.10 and Rs. 232.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 24553.17 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 60.64%, while institutions and non-institutions held 30.40% and 8.96% respectively.

REC has received its shareholder’s nod to raise Rs 50,000 crore by issuing non-convertible debentures (NCDs). The company’s shareholders gave approval for the same in the annual general meeting held on September 21, 2016.

Besides, shareholders also approved the special resolution for increasing the authorised share capital to Rs 5,000 crore from existing Rs 1,200 crore. The proposal for a bonus issue in the ratio of 1:1 to the shareholders was also approved in the AGM.

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
