United Bank of India has also inaugurated 36th regional office in Hyderabad on October 25, 2016. The region has been carved out of the Bengaluru regional office and the erstwhile link office at Hyderabad has been upgraded to a regional office. The Bank will focus on expansion in states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The undivided Bengaluru region had 67 branches in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, and 46 ATMs with a total business of Rs 5,381 crore.
United Bank of India is one of the 14 major banks which were nationalized on July 19, 1969. After nationalization, the Bank expanded its branch network in a big way and actively participated in the developmental activities, particularly in the rural and semi-urban areas in conformity with the objectives of nationalization.
