REC shines on reporting 8% rise in Q2 net profit

Rural Electrification Corporation is currently trading at Rs. 128.40, up by 2.75 points or 2.19% from its previous closing of Rs. 125.65 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 117.95 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 130.90 and Rs. 113.10 respectively. So far 1098968 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 140.95 on 24-Oct-2016 and a 52 week low of Rs. 76.25 on 17-Feb-2016.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 130.25 and Rs. 119.75 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 25466.01 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 60.64%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 28.36% and 11.01% respectively.

Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has reported results for second quarter ended September 30, 2016.   

The company has reported 8.16% rise in its net profit at Rs 1751.27 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs 1619.19 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. Total income of the company increased by 3.10% at Rs 6108.55 crore for the quarter under review as compared Rs 5924.73 crore for the corresponding quarter previous year.   

REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
