In a bid to build its brand and has appointed BBDO as its advertising agency, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (CGCEL) has reportedly assigned an advertising budget of Rs 100 crore. With revenues at Rs 3,600 crore last fiscal, the company demerged its consumer electricals business recently and now has private equity investors like Advent International and Temasek Holdings. It is now focusing on building its brand to compete with Philips (LED bulbs), Symphony (water coolers), Racold (water heaters) and Bajaj Electricals (fans) across its several product categories.

CGCEL manufactures and markets a wide spectrum of consumer products ranging from fans, light sources and luminaries, pumps and household appliances, such as geysers, mixer grinders, toasters and irons. Crompton has been the market leader in fans, domestic pumps and street lighting for over 20 years. It has manufacturing locations in Goa, Vadodara, Ahmednagar and Baddi.
