MRF, one of the major tyre makers in country, is planning to set up a new tyre manufacturing unit in Gujarat for automotive tyres, tubes, flaps and related products. The company proposes to invest Rs 4500 crore over a ten-year period in a phased manner. The company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Government expressing its in-principle intention of setting up a new facility.
MRF is engaged in the manufacturing, distribution and sale of tyres for various kinds of vehicles. Its product includes tyres, conveyor belts, pretreads, paints and coats. The company offers tyre shopping, tyredrome and tyre maintenance services. It also provides an institute for driver development.
