Tata Power’s non-fossil fuel capacity stands at 3133 MW

Tata Power’s total generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources stands at 3133 MW, making it the largest renewable energy company in India. The company's robust non-fossil fuel portfolio comprises of 693 MW of Hydro, 990 MW of Solar, 1074 MW of Wind and 375 MW of waste gas based generation. Taking a step further towards building a greener portfolio last year, the company revised its share of non-fossil fuel based capacity up to 35-40% by 2025.

The company’s wind generation capacity has also increased by 82% in FY17, up from 591 MW in FY 16 to 1074 MW in FY 17 and solar generation capacity has by 1554%, up from 60 MW in FY16 to 990 MW in FY17. The company has several renewable energy projects located in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The company is also in the process of implementing nearly 500 MW of renewable power projects at various locations.

In FY16, Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, completed the acquisition of Welspun Renewables Energy (WREPL) to become the largest Renewable Energy Company in India. WREPL has one of the largest operating solar portfolios in India spread across ten states. It has about 1,141 MW of Renewable Power Projects comprising of about 990 MW Solar Power Projects and about 150 MW of Wind Power Projects. Out of 1,141 MW renewable portfolio, over 1,000 MW of capacity is operational and balance capacity is under advanced stages of implementation.
