Tata Motors’ subsidiary -- Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has achieved its best ever January sales performance in 2017, with total retail sales of 47,693 vehicles, up 4% on the prior year, primarily driven by the ongoing success of the Jaguar F-PACE, XF, Land Rover Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Sport. Jaguar Land Rover's global retail sales performance for January shows growth in North America (29%), China (14%), UK (2%), but down in Europe (8%) and in other overseas markets (19%).
Jaguar retail sales were 13,949 vehicles, up 76%, compared to January 2016, driven by the ongoing success of the Jaguar F-PACE as well as solid sales of XF (including the long wheelbase XFL in China) and XJ. On the other hand, Land Rover retailed 33,744 vehicles in January 2017, down 11% compared to January 2016 as solid sales of Discovery Sport and Range Rover Sport were outweighed by the run-out of Defender and Discovery with the start of sales of the all-new Discovery expected later in the quarter.
