Vijay Mallya assures Kingfisher’s staff over salary issue

11 May 2012 Evaluate

Kingfisher Airlines’ staff have got some respite after Airline’ chairman Vijay Mallya has assured his employees that the long-overdue January salaries payments have commenced from May 11, 2012.

About 72 pilots based in north India went on a mass sick leave on May 10, 2012 protesting non-payment of salaries since December, and are even trying to convince their counterparts in Mumbai to follow suit. Twenty four KFA flights have been cancelled since May 10, 2012.

However, with the latest move by Mallya, there’s some hope that the crisis will be solved soon.

Kingfisher has a debt of Rs 7,057.08 crore. Its net loss widened to Rs 444.27 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2011 from Rs 253.69 crore in the October-December quarter of the last fiscal.
