Eicher Motors’ JV launches AMT-powered trucks, buses

Eicher Motors and Volvo Group’s joint venture firm, VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) has introduced Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) equipped range of medium duty trucks and 9-16 tonne buses which it hopes will drive sales on higher fuel efficiency. Prices of these AMT-powered vehicles are expected to be 5-6 per cent higher than the conventional transmission vehicles.

This new AMT technology will improve the fuel efficiency further, contribute to comfort, safety and overall productivity of its vehicles. VECV is seeking to target the state transport undertakings (STUs) for AMT buses in the near term as it expects huge fuel savings and driver comfort will be attractive for STUs.
