Tata Power crosses 51,000 MUs of power generation during 2016-17

Tata Power Company surpassed power generation of 51,000 Million Units (MUs) for the first time, collectively from all its power plants in the year 2016-17. The company also reported a significant increase in generation of 15.2% with the total power generation capacity of Tata Power in India standing at 10,577 MW from various fuel sources such as thermal, hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar PV) and waste heat recovery, thereby reinforcing its position as the largest integrated power company in India.

The company also has a significant presence in the clean energy space with a gross installed capacity of 3,141 MW. In FY’17, the company’s total customer base crossed the 2.6 million mark, as Mumbai Distribution’s consumer base crossed 670,000 customers with over 1 lakh consumers on Tata Power’s wires.

For more than a decade now, the company has been offering affordable power tariff across most consumer categories and the remarkable increase in the company’s customer base is evidence of the same. AT&C losses at Delhi (TPDDL) are expected to be 8.60% for FY17, one of the lowest in the country, as against DERC target of 10.50%.
