NTPC’s JVC - BIFPCL has issued Notice to Proceed (NTP) to BHEL on April 24, 2017 for executing the contract for 1320 MW (2 x 660 MW) coal based Maitree Super Thermal Power Project at Rampal in Bagerhat District of Khulna division, Bangladesh on turnkey basis. The investment in project has been approved by BIFPCL board at an appraised estimated cost of $2 billion.
Earlier, BIFPCL had achieved Financial Closure on April 10, 2017 to set up 1320 MW (2 x 660 MW) coal based Maitree super thermal power project.
Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company (BIFPCL) is a 50:50 joint venture company (JVC) between NTPC and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
NTPC is an Indian central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities.
