Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation (TANTRANSCO) for extending financial assistance to the tune of Rs 85,723 crore, i.e. financial assistance upto Rs 60,063 crore to TANGEDCO and upto Rs 25,660 crore to TANTRANSCO.
REC is engaged in providing financial assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments and rural electric co-operatives for rural electrification projects as are sponsored by them.
