Maruti Suzuki reports 11.3% jump in May sales

Maruti Suzuki India, leader in passenger vehicles, has reported a jump of 11.3% in total sales at 1,36,962 units in May 2017. This includes 1,30,676 units in domestic market and 6,286 units of exports. The company had sold a total of 1,23,034 units in May 2016.

Sales of mini segment cars, including, Alto and WagonR, increased by 18.1% to 39,089 units during the month under review as compared to 33,105 units in May 2016. The sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Ritz, Dzire, Ignis, Celerio and Baleno surged by 10.1% to 51,234 units in May 2017 as against 46,554 units in the year-ago period.

The sales of utility vehicles, including Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza soared 66.3% to 22,608 units in May 2017 from 13,539 units in the corresponding month of 2016. Besides, exports during the month under review decreased 36.3% to 6,286 units as compared to 9,872 units in May 2016.
