Jet Airways eyes to lease its smaller aircraft: Report

19 Jul 2017 Evaluate

Jet Airways is reportedly looking to phase out its smaller air planes through subleasing. In this regards, the national air carrier is already in talks with regional airline TruJet. TruJet is a regional airline from Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. Jet Airways is planning to sublease its ATR aircraft to TruJet.

Jet Airways currently has a fleet of 18 ATR planes which are the smaller aircraft. The subleasing to TruJet is likely to happen in a phased manner. TruJet is a regional airline, which operates 4 ATR aircraft.

The main reason behind this move may be that the ATRs are not fitting in with Jet's Premium Push, as it wants to go big on flying international, and hence it will start by subleasing 3-4 ATR planes.

Jet Airways is India’s premier international airline, which operates flights to India and overseas. The company’s robust domestic India network spans the length and breadth of the country covering metro cities, state capitals and emerging destinations.
