Hero MotoCorp reports 11% increase in May sales figure

Hero MotoCorp, country’s largest two-wheeler maker reported 11.3% increase in its sales for May at 556,644 units against 5,00,234 units during the same month last year. This is for the fifth straight month that the company has sold more than 5 lakh two-wheelers, in the backdrop of steepest petrol hike, depreciating rupee and a slowing economy. Further, the company plans to add about 400 outlets to its existing 5,000-strong network in the current fiscal.

The company reported 20.30% rise in net profit at Rs 603.5 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012. It was Rs 501.6 crore in the same period a year ago. The total income increased 12.22% to Rs 6,140 crore from Rs 5,471.3 crore in March 2011.

For the full year, the company’s net profit jumped 23.35% to Rs 2,378.1 crore as compared to Rs 1,928 crore in March 2011. The total income rose 21.62% at Rs 23,943.6 crore as against Rs 19,687.5 crore in the previous financial year ending March 2011.
