India’s troubled Kingfisher Airlines’ plan to join Oneworld is still on as the global airline alliance is ready to wait for debt-strapped Airlines’ accord and there is no set time line for that. Several months ago, Oneworld placed Kingfisher’s membership on hold however, there has been no change of status since then.
Further, Oneworld is backing up Kingfisher’s plans to battle with challenges in Indian environment and hoping that it will come through well. Kingfisher is not only fighting with internal pressure but, it is also managing external factors.
Meanwhile, the Oneworld also tied up with SriLankan Airlines and the airline would fly to Kochi, Tiruchirapalli and Thiruvananthapuram and the Indian passengers will be able to connect about 850 international destinations in 150 countries through its network and with Oneworld partners.
Oneworld Alliance includes global airlines like British Airways, American Airlines, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Australian carrier airline Qantas. It has a combined fleet of over 2,500 aircraft operating 9,000 flights daily and generates annual revenue of over $100 billion.
